From the exciting RedHeads Studio, this exclusive, barrel-aged Cabernet-Shiraz arrives with a great story.
It all started a handful of years ago, with elite winemakers ‘moonlighting’ in a makeshift winery (formerly a bar) in McLaren Vale. By day, they made big volumes for famous brands, knowing the wines could be improved, if it wasn’t for shareholders demanding 10,000s of cases. By night, they could bring precious handfuls of grapes to practice their craft at RedHeads, where top quality in the bottle is the only ‘bottom line.’ And the acclaim soon followed…
“Must be tasted to be believed,” said top critic Robert Parker of Viottolo Sentiero, one of the very first RedHeads wines. “A taste of the product indicates that this operation is as serious as a heart attack,” raved Master of Wine Jancis Robinson.
These days, RedHeads wines sell for upwards of $75 a bottle, with 90+ Parker Points among their many honors. We get first dibs on their range—and this powerful, insiders-only red is a real treat.
It’s named after the original winemaker’s Scottish ancestors, the Gunn family, whose family motto was aut pax aut bellum (“either peace or war”). Marrying Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra with Shiraz from the Barossa Valley (top regions for their respective grape varieties), the wine overflows with lush dark-fruit flavors plus subtle mint and spice notes. It’ll be a peaceful pairing for rich red meats, hearty pastas and more.
