Christophe Reboul-Salze knows a fine Bordeaux when he tastes one. The big-name négociant started off trading Grand Cru Classé wines at one of the leading houses before founding his own. And as you’ll taste, he knows how to craft a fine Bordeaux, too.

Out of all of Bordeaux, Cristophe was drawn to the Blaye district, just across the Gironde River from the famed Médoc. Like all the top regions on the Right Bank (Saint-Émilion for example), the under-the-radar appellation is home to vineyards perched on sandy limestone-clay soils, which makes for famously fantastic Merlot. He purchased three estates (Châteaux Les Grands Marechaux, Gigault and Belle Coline) with one mission in mind: to prove that the vineyards of Blaye make stand-out wines.

Christophe ensures his vines (up to 50 years old) are sustainably farmed in the most environmentally friendly way. And in 2020, he began converting to organic standards. In the cellar, he works with the hugely talented Stéphane Derenoncourt. As you’d expect, the results are exceptional…especially in a vintage as superb as 2020.

“Outstanding quality level from first growths to petit chateaux,” writes critic James Suckling, “A Merlot vintage.”

For this exclusive release, Christophe blended Merlot from each of his estates for a wine fitting of his own name. Look forward to lovely aromas of black fruits, violets and spice, which lead to an elegant palate of silky blackberry and plum, with rounded tannins and pleasing freshness.
