Lusus Reserva 2016
Lusus Reserva 2016
- Beira Atlantico - Portugal
- 2016 - Baga
- 13.0 % Alc - 750 ml
Portugal is one of the world’s most exciting wine nations, and its full-flavored, modern-style reds definitely deserve a place in your wine rack. This small country has over 250 indigenous grape varieties and has produced wine since Roman times ... as you can tell by the name of this gorgeous NEW Reserva.
Lusus was the supposed companion of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine. He’s also the figure credited with the foundation of ancient Lusitania and the spiritual father of its inhabitants, seen as the ancestors of the Portuguese people. Winemaker Osvaldo Amado has paid glorious tribute to Lusus with this fine Reserva, crafting it from Baga, a classic Portuguese grape variety, grown in coastal vineyards in the Beira Atlântico region.
We’re not the only ones who are impressed. Gilbert & Gaillard judges awarded Lusus Reserva a gold medal and gave it this tempting tasting note:
“A combination of toasted vanilla oak and red and black berry fruits on the nose. The palate is modern and offers up a fusion of oak influence ... and restrained power without too much lushness. Delicious fruit for a juicy wine.
The perfect companion for Lusus? (Besides Bacchus, of course.) Go for roasted pork, winter stews, or hearty veggie casseroles.
Portuguese reds become more popular with our customers (and discerning wine enthusiasts worldwide) every year. Hurry to secure your share of this acclaimed Reserva.
