There’s regular Bordeaux, and then there’s Bordeaux Supérieur. Representing a delicious step up in quality from standard releases, this designation means the wine must be made from single parcels of older vines, and aged a year prior to release. And when you uncork double-gold Les Hauts de Gromel Bel Air, you’ll taste the difference in your glass.
This elegant discovery hails from 150-year-old Château Gromel Bel Air. Founded in 1855, the estate lies in Fronsac, near the famous communes of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. With just 27 acres of prime-sited, high-altitude vineyards to tend, the team can pay very close attention to quality. And in exceptional 2015 – “a sure-bet vintage that ticks all the boxes,” raves Decanter – Mother Nature gave them a serious advantage.
A classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Les Hauts de Gromel Bel Air boasts two gold medals from the tough Concours des Vins Lyon and France’s prestigious Gilbert & Gaillard wine guide. Silky-smooth and well-balanced, this brims with ripe cherry and cassis, plus subtle tobacco and smoky oak notes. Made to be enjoyed with food, it’ll be delicious with beef tenderloin, lamb chops, and more.
Note: Château Gromel Bel Air is committed to crafting their wines in tiny batches, to secure the highest quality. This means we have limited cases – you know what to do.
