Jean-Pierre Moueix Pomerol 2018
- Bordeaux - France
- 2018 - Merlot-based blend
- 14.26 % Alc - 750 ml
Bordeaux’s storied Pomerol region represents “the absolute in wine seduction,” writes Decanter. It’s home to some of the world’s finest (and priciest) Merlot-rich reds, but if you know where to look, you can find bottles that seriously over-deliver on flavor and value—like Jean-Pierre Moueix.
This special release comes to you from Bordeaux legend Christian Moueix, who was at the helm of $3,000-a-bottle Château Pétrus for 38 years. Thanks to our longstanding friendship with Christian, you enjoy exclusive access to his rich Pomerol. It’s crafted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc sourced from some of his favorite vineyards. The vines thrived during the fantastic 2018 vintage, which produced “ripe, sexy wines loaded with fruit and texture, yet they also display a remarkable freshness and purity” (critic Jeb Dunnuck).
As you pour this gorgeous Pomerol, you’ll be greeted with ripe, dark berry aromas, plus subtle notes of smoke and spice. With silky tannins and a long, satisfying finish, this will make an impressive centerpiece for a dinner party—especially if a juicy beef roast or pork tenderloin is on the menu.
Though it’s drinking beautifully now, Christian’s Pomerol will reward careful cellaring for the next decade. You can wait to enjoy it…but don’t wait to order. We have very limited cases to share.
