It’s time to meet a delicious new grape! Clairette is a variety found in southern France (the Rhône in particular) that produces deliciously aromatic, fresh whites. Definitely one to get to know. It’s now made an entrance in California’s cooler climates, namely Arroyo Seco in Monterey County. That’s thanks to the Pacific Ocean and the fog that rolls off it on a daily basis. That persistent cloud cover sweeps over the coastal vineyards and helps balance the Golden State’s naturally sunny days, keeping the grapes fresh and vibrant (so they don't get too ripe).

Winemaker Doug Roosevelt fermented the pristine Clairette grapes at a low temperature to help retain all their dazzling aromas, elegant fruit and floral freshness. Give Fogbound Arroyo Seco a swirl and you’ll be greeted with aromas of white flower, delicate peach and hints of lime blossom. On the palate, look forward to soft, rounded waves of stone fruits like peach and nectarine, plus hints of fig, tropical fruits and almond. Its delicious flavors have received a lot of acclaim, including 90 points at the New York International Wine Competition.

Chilled down, it makes a fabulous aperitif. It's also a great match for seafood, risotto or pasta with creamy sauces. Why not treat yourself to Lobster risotto? It's a winning pair.
