Domaine Martin Rasteau 2020
Domaine Martin Rasteau 2020
- Rhône - France
- 2020 - Grenache-based blend
- 14.5 % Alc - 750 ml
Its recent elevation to cru status (alongside Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas) has “propelled Rasteau reds into the big leagues,” says Decanter. This tiny corner of France’s southern Rhône, perched on a small, south-facing hill, is home to full-flavored, Grenache-heavy reds—just wait until you taste this fine example. It sports a history of major acclaim—including several medals for this new release.
Domaine Martin is a boutique, family-owned operation (since 1905!), now run by fifth-generation brothers David and Eric Martin. Their old vines yield only a small amount of grapes, but thanks to the exceptional 2020 vintage, the fruit they did produce ripened to perfection and created excellent wines. As critic Jeb Dunnuck reports, “The 2020s appear to be pure, elegant, medium to full-bodied wines that excel on their balance and freshness while still showing beautiful depth of fruit.”
This is a classic Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. After eight months’ barrel aging, Domain Martin brims with spicy, dark-berry flavors and will delight alongside roasted meats, hearty stews and more.
Few cases imported—first come, first served.
