Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the southern Rhône’s most celebrated, sought-after red – and here’s an example every fan needs to try.
The world’s leading wine critic (and Rhône fanatic) Robert Parker has been a devoted follower of Cuvée du Vatican since their 1970 vintage – the first case of Châteauneuf he ever bought! Pope John XXIII blessed Cuvée du Vatican in 1958 … and they still send a case to Rome each year. These days, the Diffonty family’s at the helm – “helping lead Châteauneuf-du-Pape to new levels of quality,” says Wine Spectator. Leader Jean-Marc “has been doing a fabulous job here for over a decade,” raves Parker.
The new release of this exclusive has now hit our cellars and, thanks to Châteauneuf’s exceptional 2015 vintage, it’s tasting fantastic. It's also sure to sell out even faster than its predecessors. Here’s what you can expect in the glass …
Réserve de l’Abbé 2015 is a classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Look forward to lots of heady, ripe cherry and strawberry, notes of licorice and wild herb, too – plus a long, powerful finish. Drinking deliciously now, but don’t be afraid to hide a few bottles away to enjoy over the next decade.
Please don’t wait to order.
