If you love white Burgundy, you’ve got to get your hands on Christophe Cordier’s luxuriously barrel aged Pouilly-Fuissé. Christophe is one of the hottest names in Burgundy’s Mâcon region. The 2016 release of his old-vine (‘vieilles vignes’) Chardonnay received a 90-point rating from Vinous.com critic Stephen Tanzer, who called it “juicy and nicely delineated, offering lovely intensity ... nicely balanced, very expressive wine.”
The white wines of the Pouilly-Fuissé region also offer superb value compared to Burgundy’s more famous villages to the north. And, as a leading winemaker in the region, Christophe has taken the reputation of the domaine – which was founded by his grandparents in 1945 – to new heights. He focuses on maximizing fruit concentration and his ripe, old-vine Chardonnay (aged for 12 months in fine French oak) boasts real depth of flavor.
This elegant and intense wine is packed with notes of ripe apple and pineapple, plus a creamy texture. It can be enjoyed before dinner on its own, but is even better alongside seafood-focused hors d’oeuvres or fish entrées (smothered in a creamy lemon sauce is best!).
Top winemaking credentials, major critical praise, and incredible value … it’s time to take advantage of this fantastic deal and taste Christophe’s delicious white Burgundy for yourself.
