Champagne is a paradox—the height of sophistication, but born of grueling, time-consuming work in both the vineyard and winery. It’s the wine you reach for on special occasions (especially when you’ve got some impressing to do), but it’s also perfectly at ease on a low-key night, over cartons of Chinese take out.
You could spend a fortune seeking out the flashy Grandes Marques of Champagne, but we’ve got something even better…
This stunning Blanc de Noirs (pure Pinot Noir, to be exact) comes from mega-talented, fifth-generation winemaker, Julien Fourrier. A true labor of love, it’s crafted with grapes grown on the family’s small, 170-year-old estate in the trendy Côte des Bar and bears the name of his dear mom, Brigitte.
After an impressive three years in the cellar—twice as long as required by Champagne’s strict laws—it developed a remarkable toasty-creamy complexity. You'll also pick up vivacious notes of white and red cherry and a subtle burst of citrus rind. No surprise the wine was released to great acclaim, including four gold medals and a ‘Best Buy’ rating from the UK’s famously fussy London Times.
