Buena Vista Stone Caves North Coast Chardonnay 2016

From California’s oldest premium winery, Buena Vista, comes this exclusive, carefully crafted Chardonnay. Made with hand-harvested grapes from top vineyards across the North Coast (picked in the cool of evening, to preserve fruit character), it’s a lovely example of California’s fantastic 2016 vintage that you’ve just got to try.

What’s with the name, ‘Stone Caves’? While the estate’s founder (the ‘Count’ of Buena Vista, Agoston Haraszthy de Mokesa) was first planting vineyards at Buena Vista Ranch in the 1850s, he and his team excavated huge caves for aging and storing wine – said to run from Carneros all the way to Napa! Today, Buena Vista thrives as part of the acclaimed Boisset Family Estates – and was crowned 2013 Winery of the Year by the California Travel Association.

From the caves, straight to your dinner table, this fine Chardonnay bursts with inviting lily flower and apple aromas, which open into a vibrant palate filled with yellow fruits and subtle hints of creamy spice. It’s very food-friendly, too. Our top pairings include grilled chicken or seared scallops topped in a citrus cream sauce. You could also try it with a plate of crackers and soft cheeses – we suggest Camembert or Brie.
